Thank you all for your prayers over the last couple of days concerning my conversation this morning about a potential job opportunity in England. The Lord was so very gracious and the discussions over the job will continue forward!
I know you are all anxious to know what short of opportunity this is. I too am anxious to share more with you!
While in Sheffield, England we had the opportunity to spend a few days with Steve Timmis and his church (www.thecrowdedhouse.org). We went to Sheffield hoping to deepen our connection and relationship with Steve as he oversees the Acts 29 Network (http://www.acts29network.org/) for Western Europe and it is our intention to stay a part of this church planting network since I have overseen a region for the network here in the states for the last several years. We had no idea that Steve would offer more than his friendship and support and we were greatly humbled when he offered me the opportunity to take on the role of Associate Director of Porterbrook Network (www.porterbrooknetwork.org)!
The vision of Porterbrook Network is to equip individuals and churches to rediscover mission as their DNA, to become better lovers of God and lovers of others, and to proclaim the Gospel through word and action for the Glory of God. It is an evangelical and non-denominational training network that has been in existence for about 4 years but has really just begun to take off and needs focused leadership to direct its fast growth.
The role of Associate Director would be to create the structures necessary for the network to continue to grow and oversee the management and expansion of the network world-wide. It is a humbling opportunity and one in which I am very excited about.
The job is not certain as Steve is continuing to follow up with my references to determine if I am the right man for the job, and I am connecting with others who have worked with and for Steve to determine if I am a good fit for the job as well. Our meeting this morning over skype confirmed both of our desires to proceed forward in pursuing this opportunity. We hope to reconnect again next week or the week after to determine if this is a done deal and work through the next steps.
As of right now, the job could be done from anywhere. The flexibility of location is truly an answer to prayers as the job would solve the visa issues involved with moving to England and would allow us to live and pursue church planting in London or wherever the Lord has us. We are still continuing to pray and wait on the Lord for clarity in regards to next steps toward church planting and London, but Deedra and I see this opportunity as provision from the Lord to allow us to continue to stay moving on our church planting journey.
Again, nothing is set in stone, so please continue to lift us up in prayer. Please pray for Steve as he must discern if I am the right guy for this position. Please pray for Deedra and I as we desire to stay obedient to the direction of the Lord to walk by faith each day and are continuing to process through where to go from here (more on that later).
