Tuesday afternoon Deedra and I met with Dr. Korlakunta (our cardiologist) to discuss the results from last week’s heart monitoring. Dr. Korlakunta was very thorough in her questioning of us, the symptoms, and Deedra’s family history. We felt that she really wanted to get to the bottom of what is causing the Trachycardia – Bradycardia (fast heart beats and slow heart beats).
Dr. Korlakunta went over the results of the 24 hr. monitoring and had some encouraging things to share. Though having both rapid and low heart beats in the same patient is never ideal, the extremes of the rapid beats and the exterems of ths slow beats are not overly severe or too far apart. That is a good thing. Also, Dr. Korlakunta does not believe that the hormones are what is causing condition (though further tests will determine if that assessment is conclusive or not). This means that there is much more potential that we will be able to proceed with IVF since the procedure calls for the use of hormone treatments.
One of the things that we really liked about Dr. Korlakunta was her thoroughness. She said, and I quote, “If you were 30 years older we would just proceed to getting you a pacemaker”. Since Deedra is so young to be exhibiting these symptoms, Dr. Korlakunta really wants to exhaust every possible explanation. Therefore, the next week will be lots of tests for Deedra. Having started yesterday morning and running through next Wednesday afternoon, Deedra will under go a variety of tests in an effort to isolate the cause of her heart issues and determine the best plan for treatment. Our hope is to have more answers at the end of next week.
Please continue to pray for peace throughout this process. Deedra has been wonderful and such an amazing example of faith and steadfast to me, for God’s glory, through all of this. Please ask the Lord to continue to make His presence and the peace and rest that comes with it very near to us.
Please also pray for physical strength as the condition is causing Deedra to be tired throughout the day and not sleep well at night.
Thank you all for your support of us through your prayers. They are much appreciated, much needed, and much effective; Praise the Lord!
